The popular photo sharing site Instagram had reached a milestone for having 300 million active users which brings the square social network ahead of Twitter. And as the community grows, the network had added support for verified accounts so people can connect with authentic celebrities, brands and athletes accounts.
Last month, Instagram had rolled out a lot of improvements to highlight interesting accounts to follow and launch improvements on search. However, users are still concern about the authenticity of the people or brands that they follow. ‘When it comes to public figures and brands, how do I know that the people I discover on Instagram are really who they say they are? How do I know that this person really is Tony Hawk?’ people asked.
As an answer to that, Instagram will now roll out in the upcoming days a blue badge that will appear next to the name in the profile as well as in the search window. They will assign these badges to public figures and brands that has a higher chance of being impersonated. In lieu, Instagram has been deactivating spam accounts that will help improve the experience of users. It has informed users that they might see a change on the number of their followers following the said deletion.
Instagram is very committed to create a community where people share real moments and they want to keep the network free from fake and spam accounts. And for users, expect more improvements to this application that will keep the good vibes rolling! #ktgvr
