#TayoPH #SMDay2016

As we transition to a new government, Social Media Influencers attended the annual event on 30th of June, 2016. @IGersManila, being one of the Social Media Communities who attended, used Facebook Live and Periscope to cover the said event.

#SMDay was first organized 5 years ago. This year, various online influencers, thought leaders and several social media communities gathered in Samsung Hall in SM Aura, Taguig City. #TayoPH is this year’s Social Media Day theme.

“It has been a stressful election for everyone. We have seen friends fight online, un-friending and un-following each other, and saying negative things to one another that marred relationships. Now that it is over, it’s time for us to unite again and come together for nation-building,” said Tonyo Cruz, journalist and co-founder of @TweetUpMNL.

The event was dominated by great speakers who discussed how Social Media affects their lives and to some, the businesses they own or represent. Some speakers include Gang Badoy of RockEd Philippines; Pratiksha Rao, Head-Media Partnerships SEA, Twitter; Vivian Tan, Camille Buhain, and Faye Condez of The Soshal Network; Carlo Ople, Chief Digital Officer, Dentsu Digit; Yang Obrero of Project DEAFinitely; Sebastian Castro and Maine Mendoza – who both gained their popularity through Social Media and a whole, lot more. Performances from Jazz in Case band, Power Movers Dance Company, #SoundCloudPH, SpokenWordsPH graced the event.

Raffle prizes were given throughout the event and two of #TheColl’s (The Collaborators) won the said raffle; @MarcoEnriquez_ and @hoooooorey won PayMaya credits and PLDT Home DSL subscription respectively.

“It’s time to make the conversation positive and productive again,” Ros Juan, cofounder of @TweetupMNL shares. “We want to celebrate social media’s triumphs and recall its potential in making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.”

Keep the good vibes rolling! #ktgvr
