#TheMods and #TheColl Hashtags

We’re rebooting to our default themes as we welcome the new month!

Today, Saturday 03-December-2016, let’s snap, filter, and share visual stories of the place where we are usually #SeatED—the namesake photographic series by @edcalaycay. Be it the waiting shed seat or a bench on a vacation spot, a couch or a stool where you lounge, #CreateShareInspire that space where it is customary to sit.

Spread creativity and positivity with your posts using your favorite photo edit and filter apps. Tag your post/s to @IGersManila and don’t forget to add #IGersManila #9pmhabit #SeatED #IGersPhilippines to your photo or video caption so we can add your work to our collage and get the chance to be featured as a #PhotoPick.

#TheMods speak for #BoxTalksXIGersManila

On Saturday, 21-November-2015, @BeyondTheBoxPH invited #TheMods @CCLozano, @EdCalaycay and @iPetim for Box Talks.

Carrying this year’s theme of #CreateShareInspire in the #BoxTalks, #TheMods discussed the basics on instagram’ing.

Anchored on @IGersManila’s mantra to “keep the good vibes rolling!”, @CCLozano’s talk focused on creating visual stories using your iOS devices while @iPetim’s discussion centered on the do’s and don’ts of sharing photos online. @EdCalaycay’s “inspire” session focused on captioning and typography. A demo of the apps commonly used for instagram’ing followed after with @Nagaryan sharing his expertise for VSCO. A quick photo challenge of @BeyondTheBoxPH’s Market! Market! branch was also conducted to cap the day’s event. Check out the attendees’ visual stories on Instagram! Use the hastag: #BoxTalksXIGersManila #BeyondTheBoxMarketMarket.

Our #IGFeatureWish through #IGMNLonViber

With the recent updates on Instagram like sharing of photos and videos in portrait and landscape orientation, and the recent update on its Direct Message, we wonder; are there any more features we wanted to wish for?

Through IGersManila’s Viber Public Chat Room, we came upon a Question Of The Day or a #QOTD where we asked co-#TheMods, some #TheColl, and our #KaViber or those people following us on Viber to answer our question:

“If you can request ONE new feature added on Instagram, what will be your #IGFeatureWish and why?”

See screenshots of our answers:

It turns out, we got pretty interesting answers from #TheMods, #TheColl, and our #KaViber. Here is the summarized list of our #IGFeatureWish:

Text on Photos. It’s no secret that we love putting those witty words, relatable lyrics, and #YOLO statements on our photos. Most of us wished that Instagram could add a feature where we can add text on our photos directly instead of using another App.

Multiple Log-In. Since some of us, have more than one Instagram account, we wish that Instagram could have a feature that enables you to switch accounts without logging in like how it was done in other social media platforms. We feel that this feature will help make Social Media Managers lives easier.

Scheduled Posts. Though we know that the very purpose of Instagram is to post photos captured spontaneously, scheduled posts will help those who have a very hectic schedule to keep on instagram’ing, and not miss a day’s theme.

There are other several features we wanted to be added, but we feel that these top three requests are with higher demand and of importance for today’s Instagram’ing. How about you, what is your #IGFeatureWish? Tell us all about it by using the hashtags #IGFeatureWish and #IGMNLonViber.

We are looking forward to your suggestions. Keep the good vibes rolling! #KTGVR

#TheMods @iPetim’s talk at PUP

I was greeted by 2015 with “talks”. Last January, we just had our #CreateShareInspire talk at SM North Edsa about Instagramming 101. After that I was asked by my ex-OJT Jeremiah ‘Miah’ Noriel, a senior Marketing student at PUP to be part of their seminar this February. I thought – of course, why not. That’ll be fun. At least I’ll be doing something solo for a change. As the weeks went by, and as my workload and other activities were making me too occupied to finish my slides, my next thoughts changed and became something like this – I don’t think I can finish my slides on time or even do a speech. I was about to text Miah to tell her that I can’t do it, but then I thought, she needed this. They needed this and they’re counting on me to help them with their project. I don’t think I will be able to sleep at night if I knew in my heart that I failed some people. In short, I decided to take the plunge, and just finish the slides.

On the day of the seminar, I was greeted by her team, the Erudite Productions. They were definitely prepared and I was awed by how they transformed SM City Sta Mesa Cinema 9 into a place that looked like it was made for seminars and not movies. They have an AVP, glow-in-the-dark bracelets in tow, and snacks prepared. That gave me the boost I needed. The realization that this group really prepared, worked hard for this seminar, and was able to make it happen despite the odds. I decided right there and then that I will try to give them my best effort because they only deserve the best.

There are only two scheduled speakers for their seminar entitled “Metamorphosis: Unfolding The World of Digital”. Yours truly and Mr. TJ Villanueva, or more known as “Coach TJ”. Since I’m going first, I decided to do a short ice breaker the IGersManila way;  our trademark Pass the Energy and Massage Clinic. As I was talking, I noticed that my more or less six hundred audience were very responsive and loves to laugh, so I injected humor in my topics so that I wont lose their attention. I wanted them to laugh and to learn at the same time. Thankfully, it worked. My topic was a bit serious, so the jokes and laughs balanced out my talk. Here is the keynote and videos I used for my talk:

And thanks to Ryan @nagaryan Pesimo who accompanied me on that day and even took photos and videos of me, I was able to do a short video of my presentation. I never saw myself as someone funny, because I’m really not. I don’t know what happened on that day, I just felt like I wanted to throw out jokes and make everyone laugh. Let’s just say, I love the crowd. The energy and positive vibes were contagious. You be the judge, and watch the video below:

After the talk, I was surprised that everyone clapped. Because I kind of felt I was just out there to do a skit. I was afraid that they didn’t learn anything at all. Thankfully they did, and they enjoyed the talk. How did I know that they loved it? Well, let’s just say I gained new teen friends, and I received positive messages and comments regarding it. It was priceless. Little did they know, that it was I who learned a lot from them. Their enthusiasm in learning and trying something new is an eye-opener that the youth of today is not yet a lost cause. They will make it happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ll be bumping into them on events a few years from now. They seem to be the people who will make it through and will be successful in doing so. And you bet, I’ll be one of those people who will be so proud of them.

With that, I would like to thank the whole Erudite Productions, Professor Angelina Goyenechea of PUP for the opportunity and most of all, for trusting me. I’m looking forward in meeting them all again.

Keep the good vibes rolling, PUP!

IGersManila at the #BratpackRemix

Last 30-June-2014, #IGersManila’s #TheMods were invited to attend Bratpack’s #bratpackremix launch at The Gallery, Greenbelt 5, Makati City.

They featured the 4 local artist who designed their new line of #bratpackremix. These artists are:

Anjo Bolarda, who creates arresting and intricate pieces.

Lala Gallardo, whose art were based from her fascination for indigenous crafts, unusual flora, sci-fi, and vintage photographs.

JP Cuison, who re-imagines pop culture imagery in his work, creating pieces made with acrylic and his electric sense of humor.

and Celina De Guzman, who colors each work with a dreamy palette of pastels.

Special thanks to Ms. KC Aguila and Clytie Choa for inviting #IGersManila.

MTV Exit invites IGersManila to see “Alagwa”

MTV Exit, through its Campaign Coordinator in the Philippines, Toni Zuniga, invited the IGersManila community to a special screening of “Alagwa” (Breakaway) last Sunday 02-March-2014 at the SM Mall of Asia. This is in cooperation with the US Embassy Manila Philippines and USAID Philippines, as part of the America 3D event.

Just like the Freedom Pledge, a campaign that IGersManila supports, this film is another harsh realization of how human trafficking takes place in the country within Filipinos. The film stars Jericho Rosales and Bugoy Cariño, and was written and directed by Ian Loreños. It uncovers the dark aspects of the underground business of human trafficking and the worst possibilities of how it can unexpectedly occur, which serve as an eye-opener to those who have seen the film.

Joining #TheMods Ed Calaycay and Petim Maminta are the members of IGersManila’s Circle of Snapshooters or #iCoss, who have likewise expressed their support for this campaign.

Support the fight against human trafficking, take the #FreedomPledge, because you and I can make a difference.
