Apple’s iPhone, with its many iterations especially camera enhancements, and through the help of creativity apps, has changed the way we snap and share our photos and videos, proving true what Chase Jarvis proclaimed as “the best camera is that one that’s with you.” And you didn’t have to be a pro to be able to capture the beauty of subjects and scenes around you, and in most situations, your iPhone will do the trick, even quick.
More than 9.6 million Filipinos were victims of the super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). It didn’t just destroyed homes, but it has also stolen many lives, hopes, and dreams. As we face the aftermath; let’s help, reach out, and make use of Social Media as a powerful tool to disseminate helpful information. @IGersManila supports the #Unselfie Project, for spreading awareness via Instagram. The #Unselfie Project was launched to help raise awareness and call for donations for the victims of Yolanda.Let’s do something selfless by posting for #UnSelfie. The victims need help and as a nation we can help in our little way.
Here’s how to participate:
- Take a photo of yourself or anyone holding a sheet of paper covering the face.
- On that sheet of paper, write down the donation page URL of an organization that accepts online donations for the victims of Yolanda.
- Put the hashtag #UnSelfie after. Tag your post to IGersManila or add #IGersManila #IGersPhilippines to your photo or video caption so we can see and feature your work. Spread the word and let the world know that we need their help.
All #UnSelfie photos will be collated and showcased at www.unselfie.me, a website dedicated for this project. It’s time to take action and use our Instagram’ing device/s as a way to help our fellow Filipinos who have devastatingly suffered because of this tragedy.
Yes, the iPhones, in two flavors. Announced by Apple in a press event last September 10, the Touch ID-toting iPhone 5s and the colorfully-plastic iPhone 5c are both locally available now, officially launched last November 15 by Smart and Globe (in scaled down events due to the Yolanda/Haiyan typhoon aftermath and relief efforts), and this time around, along with Apple Premium Resellers such as Beyond The Box and Power Mac Center, both offering factory unlocked units.
The gold version of the iPhone 5s is proving to be the best seller, with stocks running out the day of launch, while its slightly affordable but equally capable plastic counterpart iPhone 5c have enough supplies for those who fancy the bright color range. Both telcos have enticing postpaid plans on offer (as low as PHP 1,499 per month for the iPhone 5c 16GB), with Globe introducing its unique iPhone Forever program that gives you the option of upgrading to a new iPhone every year. Of course if you don’t want to get tied to a contract, your best bet is to go to your favorite Apple Premium Reseller where you can get an iPhone 5s or 5c that’s factory unlocked, who knows, you might get a surprise discount and freebies.
We’ll be taking for a phoneography spin this iPhone 5s 64GB Space Grey (pictured above) soon, after which we’ll post a review, stay tuned.
Snapshots that keep visual stories interesting and attempt to frame social interaction, imagery that leaves lasting and remarkable impression, yielding illustrious reality, of frozen moments that evoke sentiments.
Stay tuned as we unveil more details of the 2ND PHILIPPINE INSTAGRAM EXHIBIT slated this November 2013. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions.

MARAMING SALAMAT for joining @IGersManila as IGers in different cities across the globe celebrate the 3rd Instagram Worldwide Instameet. In the photo collage are @karenkeren @louie427 @jaimejim @_portia_ @khymonki @cclozano @jelloc @tyroneml @brachelleanne @mogultown @edcalaycay @purplemeeh.
@brachelleanne was the first to arrive at our meetup venue at Starbucks Coffee in San Miguel by the Bay.
The suntastic Manila Bay sunset was the perfect background that silhouetted this snapshot of @brachelleanne @edcalaycay and @mogultown gamely modelling and spelling out our addiction to Instagram.
The whoawesome Pinoy IGers after the quick photo walk at the Seaside Boulevard, with the famous SM Mall of Asia on the other side.
Amazing how an iPhone (using Camera+ in burst mode) can capture beautiful jump shots such as this with @edcalaycay @mogultown and @brachelleanne doing different poses on air.
Congratulations to @louie427 for topping the #Sinag01 photo contest with the highest likes, he won a US$ 10.00 iTunes card courtesy of @pinkipop27.
We wrapped up the Manila Instameet (this will be the 6th by @IGersManila) at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in SM Mall of Asia.
