While last year’s #IGnitePH theme was red, this year it was BLUE, which also stands for Building Links Uniting Everyone, a tagline that accurately captures the relationships formed within the community since it was founded.
The program opened with a pre-recorded video prayer by Kieth Walter Ayuso (@kiethwalter), who now resides abroad but was present in the entire event through a video conference call. Then, as in every instameet, @IGersManila moderator Petim Maminta’s (@ipetim) signature icebreaker of passing the energy and giving quick backrubs to each other followed.
The buffet was a good selection of mostly Filipino-Chinese dishes and a generous spread of desserts. But the main attraction in the banquet was the delicious cake and cupcakes in red velvet and chocolate baked by our very own Charisse Joanne Cao (@chakulit16), who recently ventured into the business with her Chakulit’s Sweets and Pastries.
It was in the middle of dinner when #TheMods and #TheColl did a flash mob dance to the tune of Timber (Pitbull feat. Ke$ha). If you were not there to see it, you can watch the video here.
All throughout the party were raffle draws from our sponsors, namely: 20 pieces of powerbanks sent by @KiethWalter from Dubai, 16 various smartphone accessories such as gorillapods and mini tripods with grip from Joby (who was also our sponsor in the last two exhibits), and three backpacks from Outdoor (who sponsored an invite-only instameet last April).
The crowd had a lot of fun in the “Bring Me” game, which incorporated a twist specifically catered to its interests. Instead of items, people were asked to bring (with their mobile devices) specific universal apps used for social media, photography, and photo/video editing. The prizes were Starbucks gift certificates.
There were also warm messages from @IGersManila’s moderator Pinky Delos Reyes (@pinkipop27) who is based in New York City and our guests from ProFriends, one of the fastest growing property developers in the country who now sponsored IGnitePH for two years in a row.
Completely unexpected was the presentation prepared by #TheMods. For the first time, they showed us the final edit of the “Keep the Good Vibes Rolling” music video (available for viewing here), which was filmed in the group activities held during @IGersManila’s third anniversary in Rizal Park. As an additional surprise treat for everyone, instead of screening the video in its original audio produced by SoundCloud Philippines, #TheMods sang the community song live.
Further into the evening was the exchanging of gifts and the presentation of the IGnitePH awards such as Breakthrough IGer of the Year, Hashtag of the Year, and Caption Writer of the Year. The awardees were given certificates and limited edition @IGersManila shirts. For a complete list of the 2014 awardees, please check this page.
The program finale was the much-awaited announcement of the KalyePH2014 Visual Story of the Year. But before that, Michael Tomas (@2408mike), who won the award in 2013, gave a brief message on how Instagram and @IGersManila changed his life in a positive way. This year’s awardee received an iPad Mini from Globe and PhP5,000 worth of in-store credits from Beyond the Box. It was none other than Mao Deomampo, whose winning photo appears below.

We would like to acknowledge the #TheColl #IGnitePH2014 Committee for organizing the 2014 Year-Ender Party, for distributing the souvenirs, and for ensuring that everyone has a mugshot. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Dennis Macapagal (@dendavemac) for documenting the whole event, capturing every moment, thus, providing us beautiful memories that we will cherish for life.
We hope to see you in the next IGnitePH! Until then, keep the good vibes rolling! #ktgvr
