Deepwater Horizon

Last October 4, 2016, @IGersManila watched the advanced screening of Deepwater Horizon. Big thanks to Viewers’ Choice Philippines for the invitation to watch the said film in SM Megamall Cinema 6.

The movie is a story of survival and was inspired by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill which began on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico – it is considered to be the worst Oil Spill disaster ever happened. The movie circulated with the story of Mike Williams – Chief Electrical Engineer of an oil company – portrayed by Mark Wahlberg.

It is true that danger may come when we least expect them so the only way to survive when that time comes is to be prepared and resilient. This movie indeed captivated a lot of viewers because it is part of our history. What we don’t know are the stories behind it.

The movie earned a total of $88M worldwide for 3 weeks.

#IGMNL celebrates 5 IG years through #WWIM13

Instagramers Manila Philippines (@IGersManila) joins the instagram’ing communities around the world for @Instagram’s Worldwide Instameet 13 #WWIM13 #LifeOnEarthWWIM13 on Saturday 23-April-2016, 8AM onwards at the La Mesa Ecopark, Quezon City.

Falling on the Earth Day 2016 weekend, this Philippine leg of #WWIM13 also is a celebration of @IGersManila’s 5th Founding Anniversary #JiveForFive.

 

“In line with our theme to #JiveForFive — instagram’ing for social good, we plan to do an Ecowalk. Through this ecowalk, we want to raise environment awareness and recreation at the same time,” said @CCLozano, founder of @IGersManila.

“We found the La Mesa Ecopark as a nearby venue that provides healthful outdoor recreation, a fun place for family outings and picnics and at the same time an amazing venue to hold this #WWIM13PH,” added @iPetim, moderator of @IGersManila.

#IGMNL conducts #PIPE4 Media Launch

16-October-2015 — @IGersManila did a Media Launch for the 4th Philippine Instagram Photo Exhibit #PIPE4 at BB Brand Bakery Bistro at 2F RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Tower, 25th Corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Greeted with a cheerful “buongiorno” by the staff, the media launch was attended by friends from Mozilla Philippines and TweetUp Manila, together with a few of our collaborators. The evening was a fun-filled night of Italian Food in a cozy ambiance — a perfect setting for a night of snapping food photos for #foodamology and shared stories about the 4th Philippine Instagram Photo Exhibit.

We were served with their authentic Italian dishes — Tagliolini granchio, Spaghetti Piscatory, Pappardelle rage,
Tagliatelle salmone, lasagna al ragu, Insalata del chef, Bruschetta, Pizza and a cake with “Instagramers” dedication in it.

#iCossPhotoshoot: #ValdaPilipinas

In cooperation with Aspen Philippines, the social media agency for Valda Pastille, @IGersManila conducted an #iCossPhotoshoot on 31-January-2015

Attended by 38 #iCoss members, the event was held at McDonald’s Forbes Town Centre in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The event started with @IGersManila’s signature Circle of Energy as ice breaker and is followed by a short talk of @JomeLim, representing Aspen Philippines.

During the event, #iCoss members were grouped into 3 and were tasked to come up with creative shots for Valda Pastilles.

IGers talk about Instagram’ing and IGersManila

IGersManila snapshoots Preview’s Fashion X Art at the Art Fair Philippines 2014

When Preview Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Pauline Suaco-Juan asked IGersManila to cover the Fashion X Art show at the Art Fair Philippines 2014, we undoubtedly and excitedly went and tagged along some of our active #iCoss members marking it as our second cover from the foremost fashion and lifestyle publication. The first was back in October 2013 at the Claudio Bravo: Sojourn in Manila where we had the opportunity to snap photos through a live portraiture session with muses Georgina Wilson, Liz Uy, and Bea Soriano.

The Art Fair Philippines was held on February 20-23, 2014 at the 6th and 7th floor of The Link Parkway Drive at the Ayala Center, Makati City. We went there in the afternoon of February 21, a Friday, to snap photos of the individual art forms of Rajo Laurel’s “Living Liquid”, Leeroy New’s “Chrysalis”, and Nikki Luna’s “Consume.”

Aside from us #TheMods, we were accompanied by 17 #iCoss members namely @nagaryan, @chakulit16, @ianaperalta, @jaimejim, @christofferking, @reyjohnino, @oscardelahopia, @mrjalandoni, @imalexxe, @darthmao_, @kiethwalter, @gelaramirez13, @claudsclaudio, @jodomu4u, @purplemj, @reinersmile, and @iamarjayofficial.

We are so proud that some of our #iCoss members received high praises from renowned fashion designer Rajo Laurel on their photos of his “Living Liquid”. He even included their photos in his website. Even sculptor, artist, and designer Leeroy New regram some photos of our #iCoss using his Instagram.

We have also witnessed works of well-known artists such as BenCab, Marina Cruz, Pio Abad, Ronald Ventura, and a lot more and we are looking forward to what the Art Fair Philippines will come up next.

Instagram’ing direct to your friends

In a press event last Thursday, Instagram founder Kevin Systrom announced Instagram Direct (available now for iOS 5.0 and Android 5.0, the Windows Phone beta version will have to wait) leveling up its photo and video sharing service to allow Instagram’ers to send photos and videos privately and exchange chat-like messages.

With the version 5.0 update, your home feed is refreshed with a new inbox icon at the top right corner, tap it to see photos and videos that people have sent to you. When posting, you now have two new options: tap on Followers to share to your followers like we’re all used to, or share to specific Instagram’ers by tapping on Direct, you can then select the names of up to 15 Instagram’ers you want to send your photo or video to, then finish up your post with a caption and send.

Once sent, you can see who checked out and liked your post, as well as watch your recipients exchanging messages in real time. Instagram’ers who follow each other can exchange messages, but for those who don’t, the message will show up as a pending request in the inbox.

Aside from Instagram Direct, the app’s UI has been slightly updated, such as the log-in pages. While we’re used to just double-tapping and commenting on a post that caught our attention, this update should make Instagram’ing a more engaging photo and video sharing experience, as it now allows you to interact directly, privately with the people you care most about.
