Last Wednesday, 22 March 2017, we were invited by Ford Philippines to experience a fun-filled day full of art appreciation and discovery using their compact urban SUV, Ford EcoSport.
The Ford EcoSport has started a new trend in the Philippine vehicle segment. Its trendy design became popular among ageing millennials, according to EJ Francisco, AVP for Communications, Ford Philippines . Urban driving is an ease as you can squeeze it through the busy streets of Metro Manila.
Our early morning meetup was at Ford Bonifacio Global City. We were oriented about our #ArtAppreciationDrive schedule using a white Ford EcoSport.

After the week of call of submission of entries for the different categories for the 5th Philippine Instagram Photo Exhibit #PIPE5, @IGersManila announces the finalists who qualified for the next phase of the competition – #TheBattles.
Excited to join @IGersManila’s 5th Philippine Instagram Photo Exhibit #PIPE5? Please read the mechanics below!
Instagramers Manila Philippines (@IGersManila), the official Philippine representative of the http://instagramers.com network of cities and international Instagram communities, conducts an annual event dubbed as the Philippine Instagram Photo Exhibit (#PIPE) showcasing Pinoy’s visual artistry, creativity and ingenuity through mobile photography and visual storytelling.
Promoting photography using smartphones, this annual event has featured snapshots taken mostly from streets and public places that captures the unique Pinoy culture and lifestyle, thus the hashtag #KalyePH.
Now on it’s fifth annual run, the 5th Philippine Instagram Exhibit (“#PIPE5”), @IGersManila is deviating from the previous themes of the competition. This year’s exhibit shall adopt the theme ”Break The Rules!”
From the #PIPE tradition of focusing only on street photography #KalyePH, we are breaking the rules and going beyond the norm to expand the scope of the exhibit by including additional categories as part of the competition.
@IGersManila is also veering away from the structure of the previous exhibits by making this year’s exhibit an online competition only . Furthermore, the number of awards has been expanded to reflect the diversity of a community that @IGersManila has formed.
The new categories for #PIPE5 are the following:
Kein System ist sicher (No System is safe) as the producers dub it, Who Am I is a german film about a young computer wizard who established his name in the world of hacking. Last September 21, 2016, #IGersManila was invited to Ayala Malls Cinemas’ Gala of German Film Festival to watch how Benjamin, together with a neophyte hacker group became eminent to world’s professional hackers.
The event started with a brief introduction how the organizers came up with the idea of showcasing the German’s Film Industry to the Filipinos. Who Am I – Kein System ist sicher is the first movie shown in the said gala. The movie was produced in 2014 and was entirely shoot in Germany. The weight of the story is not too heavy as expected in German films. They are known to create stories of their rich culture with mostly depressing plots and for someone who don’t understand the language, I think, watching it will be a very good way to boost your interest in German movies, eine runde chillen (and chill for a bit.)
The film is filled with so much action that makes it visually appealing to the viewers. Baran bo Odar introduced us to an experimental cinematography because we felt as if we were inside a computer system and every action they make creates an awesome systematic approach. Who Am I created a strong impact to the status quo as it depicts how a particular government can be susceptible to a computer junkie.
The Film Week is comprised of 13 hand-picked features released in Germany in the last two years. Tickets are priced at P100 which also featured in the festival are the Emma Watson starrer “The Colony,” with other highly acclaimed films “24 Weeks,” “As We Were Dreaming,” “The Dark Side of the Moon,” “Head Full of Honey,” “Hördur: Between the Worlds,” “I’m Off Then,” “Labyrinth of Lies,” “Stations of the Cross,” “Meteor Street,” “Rough Road Ahead” and “Wild.”
The German Film Week 2016 was made possible by the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Ayala Malls Cinemas. For details, visit the Goethe Web site.
I have thought that Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates will be like the ‘Wedding Crashers.’ But, it surprised me that it has come up a way to stand on its own to tell a story. It was an invitation by 20th Century Fox (Philippines) and the exclusive screening was held at the Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City last September 12.
It was an invitation by Viewers’ Choice Philippines that’s short notice so we were initially hesitant, but tagging along fellow daring Instagram’ers, we braved the challenge of representing IGersManila at the advanced screening of Blair Witch (2016) last September 8 held at the Greenbelt 3 MyCinema in Makati City.
Blair Witch, perhaps a long overdue sequel to the original psychological horror movie, The Blair Witch Project, stars James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez and Valorie Curry. The 2016 follow up film, employing the same found footage technique used in the original, is directed by Adam Wingard, produced by Keith Calder, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider and Jessica Wu, and written by Simon Barrett. Coinciding with the 5th Founding Anniversary celebration of @IGersManila #JiveForFive, the community trooped to La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City for an early ecowalk on Saturday, 23-April, 2016.
Using the concept of the “Four Elements of Nature,” IGers attending the ecowalk were given a GREEN card and bag containing instructions for 3 sets of tasks related to an element assigned to their theme. The scorching summer heat didn’t stop IGers in creatively snapshooting visual stories at the Ecopark given the limited time.
