Last Wednesday, 22 March 2017, we were invited by Ford Philippines to experience a fun-filled day full of art appreciation and discovery using their compact urban SUV, Ford EcoSport.
The Ford EcoSport has started a new trend in the Philippine vehicle segment. Its trendy design became popular among ageing millennials, according to EJ Francisco, AVP for Communications, Ford Philippines . Urban driving is an ease as you can squeeze it through the busy streets of Metro Manila.
Our early morning meetup was at Ford Bonifacio Global City. We were oriented about our #ArtAppreciationDrive schedule using a white Ford EcoSport.
I have thought that Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates will be like the ‘Wedding Crashers.’ But, it surprised me that it has come up a way to stand on its own to tell a story. It was an invitation by 20th Century Fox (Philippines) and the exclusive screening was held at the Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City last September 12.
The 40th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is proud to showcase outstanding film creations through the New Wave Awards category this year. Started in 2010, this category allows independent and upcoming filmmakers to express themselves through a powerful medium and provides an opportunity to participate in the yearly exhibition of best films.
Out of more than 100 entries, only 15 finalists has been selected and will be judged as the best full-length film, student short film and animation film.
On Saturday 13-December-2014, the MMFF New Wave had a premiere screening for student short and animation films at U-View Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City. The theater was packed with film directors, students and film enthusiast who has been welcomed by the head of Student Shorts Section, Director Paul Soriano.
“It is very rare to have your short films actually be screened in the big screen. So, take this experience to learn,” said Soriano on his opening remarks.
He also congratulated the students who made the cut on the category out of the other finalists who submitted their application.
BIMYANA, Never Stop Dreaming
IGersManila, represented by #TheColl @gelaramirez, @rubysparks___ and yours truly, @i_bkf, have been invited to a special screening of Bimyana along 2 other new wave film entries.
A stand out among the short films, Bimyana features a young Ayta girl from Porac, Pampanga. Little we did know, the title of the film was taken from the name of the main actress after Director Kim Zuniga made an introduction about the movie.
It was a heart felt speech as Zuniga’s vision was to amplify the voice of indigenous people all over the world.
“I feel so lucky as a director that I’m able to share the beautiful and magical stories of my friends at Katutubo Village through my film, #Bimyana. Maraming salamat po dahil pinagkatiwala ninyo po ang kwento ninyo sa amin. Sana po ay sa pamamagitan ng munti naming pelikula ay mas marami pang makaalam ng inyong napakagandang komunidad,” Zuniga said.
Bimyana, is a story of a young Ayta girl who felt so proud when she was selected to represent their school in a regional quiz bee. During her preparation, challenges had come up: lack of school funds to support her, a mother who is less enthusiastic on her achievements and a mythical creature that test her courage and determination. Would she just fall or find courage to achieve her dreams?
Find out as Bimyana will be shown in Glorietta and SM Megamall cinemas from 17-Dec to 24-Dec 2014.
It will be shown along with the feature film of Diane Ventura, “Mulat” and Mary Despidido’s Animation film, “An Maogmang Lugar.”
Tickets are on sale for only PHP120 and if you buy a ticket from #TeamBimyana, a portion of what you give will be donated at Mission: Katutubo Village to support their development programs.

The popular photo sharing site Instagram had reached a milestone for having 300 million active users which brings the square social network ahead of Twitter. And as the community grows, the network had added support for verified accounts so people can connect with authentic celebrities, brands and athletes accounts.
Last month, Instagram had rolled out a lot of improvements to highlight interesting accounts to follow and launch improvements on search. However, users are still concern about the authenticity of the people or brands that they follow. ‘When it comes to public figures and brands, how do I know that the people I discover on Instagram are really who they say they are? How do I know that this person really is Tony Hawk?’ people asked.
As an answer to that, Instagram will now roll out in the upcoming days a blue badge that will appear next to the name in the profile as well as in the search window. They will assign these badges to public figures and brands that has a higher chance of being impersonated. In lieu, Instagram has been deactivating spam accounts that will help improve the experience of users. It has informed users that they might see a change on the number of their followers following the said deletion.
Instagram is very committed to create a community where people share real moments and they want to keep the network free from fake and spam accounts. And for users, expect more improvements to this application that will keep the good vibes rolling! #ktgvr
The advent of digital technologies focused on mobile and social has dramatically changed how we share and keep our photos. From those Polaroid films and huge photo albums to social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, we keep on looking for ways how to keep those memories alive. One of the easiest ways is to get a glossy printed photograph, buy a frame and hang it on the wall. Surely, it would look neat for your visitors to look at but have you considered printing it on canvas?
Canvas printing is becoming a trend in both photography and interior design mainly because of the impression it can create from the viewer. The photos are printed on a sturdy material, just like the one used in painting, which would definitely last for many years compared to traditional printing. Aside from its durability, canvas prints allow you to feel that you are viewing a photo in an exhibit gallery and make a statement that photography is definitely an art.
IGERSMANILA IS ON KANVAS
There are a lot of shops that offer canvas printing with different sizes and prices but you need to make sure that the quality of work will stand out. And as the 3rd Philippine Instagram Exhibit #KalyePH2014 opens by end of November 2014, IGersManila had partnered with Kanvas Inc. to create those prints extraordinarily.
Kanvas Inc. is becoming one of the popular shops that offer canvas printing in the Philippines. They believe that photos are worthy of being shared to friends and house guests and not just locked on a hard drive. With their passion in sophistication, Kanvas Inc. has been transforming digital photos into unique gifts since 2012 and take pride in printing the best canvas. Taking advantage of modern digital printing, Kanvas Inc. prints photos in canvas differently which would definitely stand out once you hang them on your walls.
